About Dance on a Dime…

I have been a dance mom for 15 years (and counting..!). During this time, I have watched my 2 daughters (pictured all over this page😀) grow in the art form, each in her own way. I can personally attest to the benefits of dance. It is a fun way to keep active, improving physical and mental health. It challenges both the body and brain, as well as builds confidence. There is a huge artistic element allowing for self-expression and the creation of something beautiful, sometimes out of hard-to-process feelings. Dance offers lessons in hard work, with consistent practice efforts resulting in improvement that can be both seen and felt. As kids grow and become involved in more classes, competition teams, assisting teachers in class for younger dancers etc., time management skills are undoubtedly honed.

Of course, these benefits come at a price. There’s class tuition, competition fees, convention fees, costume fees, studio fees, make-up, shoes that get purchased at the beginning of a season then inevitably outgrown by Christmas, team jackets, oh, and the shirts...there's always a shirt! I absolutely love it all, but it definitely adds up financially. And as a single-parent household on a modest income, it tends to add up very quickly!

Part of my mission with Dance on a Dime is to make dance more accessible and affordable by easing the financial burden of essential dancewear, costumes, and gear. The other part of my mission is to provide dancers and families with a sustainable outlet to recycle outgrown or unused items, turning clutter into opportunity. By creating a community-driven marketplace, we not only extend the life of dance essentials but also help every dancer, at every stage, have access to what they need to thrive.

If you are a dance family in or around the Raleigh, NC area and your closets are overflowing with outgrown dancewear, please reach out! I would love to partner with you in clearing out your closets and helping other dancers affordably obtain items they need - all while saving you the hassle of posting each individual item on various marketplaces, meeting up to exchange, shipping and all that fun stuff 😀

So please, buy here, sell here, share the page with someone to whom it may be helpful! The more variety of dancewear we have coming in, the more variety of dancers we can help support. Let’s create a beautiful community together. And never hesitate to reach out to me at DanceOnADimeNC@gmail.com. I am approaching this with an open heart, an open mind, and I welcome all of your questions, comments, ideas or emails just to say "Hi!" Thank you for your support!
